# What is the pnpm store folder on my Mac?

It belongs to **pnpm**. Here’s what’s inside and the right way to deal with it.

Short answer

The pnpm store is pnpm’s content-addressed cache: one copy of every package version your projects have installed, hard-linked into each node\_modules. It’s safe to prune. Packages no project uses are removed, and anything needed later is downloaded again on the next install.

**Location:** `~/Library/pnpm/store · ~/Library/Caches/pnpm`

## What’s inside

- Every package version you have installed with pnpm
- Metadata cache for the registry

**Our verdict: Safe.** Your Mac or your apps recreate this automatically. Removing it won’t lose anything you made.

## The pnpm way

```
pnpm store prune
```

This removes packages no project references. `pnpm store path` shows where your store lives.

## Remove all of it

Delete what’s inside the store folder. The next `pnpm install` downloads what each project needs.
