About TidyMac

TidyMac started with one screen: a grey bar labelled "System Data" that nobody could open. After macOS 27, people were reporting it at 290, 357, even 400 GB.

How we write explanations

Every category answers the same five questions in the same order: what it is, why it's big, whether it's safe to remove, what happens after, and whether it comes back. We check every path and command on a current Mac before publishing, and we date every page.

How we stay honest

  • We say "about" when a number is an estimate.
  • We say when we can't see something, instead of guessing.
  • Comparison pages are based on each product's public website, dated, and corrected when we're told.

What we never build

"Speed up your Mac", memory cleaning, antivirus, or emptying the Trash automatically.
