A storage MCP server for your AI agents
Run TidyMac --mcp and any MCP client can ask about your Mac’s storage with real numbers. Read-only by default. Agents can ask for a cleanup; only you can approve it.
| Tool | What it returns |
|---|---|
get_storage_overview | Free space, the storage bar, safely-freeable space, trend and forecast. |
list_categories | Every part of hidden storage with size, safety label and a one-line explanation. |
get_category | The full explanation of one category, plus its biggest items. |
get_space_history | Free space per day and every clean. |
what_grew | Which categories grew or shrank since N days ago. |
get_suggestions | TidyMac’s smart suggestions with the bytes involved. |
list_large_files | The biggest files in your own folders (never removed by TidyMac). |
list_other_big_folders | Big folders outside the library, with the owning app and whether it’s installed. |
request_cleanup | Only when you allow it: asks you to review a cleanup in TidyMac. Never cleans on its own. |
How cleanup requests work
- In TidyMac, turn on Settings › AI agents › Let agents ask to clean up. It's off by default.
- An agent calls
request_cleanupwith category ids and a one-sentence reason. - TidyMac comes forward and shows who asked, what, and why. Only Safe items are ticked.
- You deny, or approve through the normal Review screen. Files go to the Trash.
- The agent is told the outcome: approved, denied or expired after five minutes.
What agents never get
File contents, names from Documents, Desktop, Photos, Mail or Messages, or any way to delete on their own. Every call is listed under Recent agent activity in Settings.
Let TidyMac do this for you
Scan free, see every part of your storage explained, and clean only what’s safe. Everything goes to the Trash first.
