What is the .ollama/models folder on my Mac?

It belongs to Ollama. Here’s what’s inside and the right way to deal with it.

Short answer

~/.ollama/models holds every model you pulled with Ollama, split into shared “blobs”. A model is usually 4–40 GB. Remove models with ollama rm <name> so shared layers used by other models stay intact; deleting blob files by hand can break models you keep.

Location: ~/.ollama/models

What’s inside

  • manifests: one per model and tag
  • blobs: model weights, shared between models
