How to uninstall Figma on Mac completely

Dragging Figma to the Trash leaves its data behind. Here’s every place it keeps files, which ones matter, and how to remove the rest.

Short answer

Quit Figma, drag it from Applications to the Trash, then remove ~/Library/Application Support/Figma (which includes the FigmaAgent font helper), the LaunchAgent ~/Library/LaunchAgents/com.figma.agent.plist that starts the helper at login, ~/Library/Caches/com.figma.Desktop, its preferences and saved state. Your design files are stored in Figma’s cloud.

Uninstall Figma step by step

  1. Quit Figma (Figma › Quit Figma).
  2. Drag Figma from Applications to the Trash.
  3. Move ~/Library/LaunchAgents/com.figma.agent.plist to the Trash so the font helper stops starting at login.
  4. Move ~/Library/Application Support/Figma to the Trash.
  5. Move ~/Library/Caches/com.figma.Desktop and com.figma.Desktop.ShipIt to the Trash, if present.
  6. Move ~/Library/Preferences/com.figma.Desktop.plist and its Saved Application State to the Trash.
  7. Empty the Trash and restart.

The font helper keeps running after you delete the app

Figma installs a small helper, FigmaAgent, so Figma in your browser can use fonts installed on your Mac. A LaunchAgent starts it every time you log in. Deleting Figma.app doesn’t remove it, so it keeps running until you remove com.figma.agent.plist and the helper. If you still use Figma in a browser with local fonts, keep both.

Your files are in the cloud

Figma files live in your Figma account, not on the Mac. Local fonts you installed yourself are in Font Book and aren’t affected.

Uninstall Figma with TidyMac

TidyMac’s uninstaller lists every app with its size and last use, and finds the leftovers that belong to it by bundle ID. Leftovers from apps you already deleted are found too, labelled Check first.

Frequently asked questions

Does dragging Figma to the Trash uninstall it completely?

No. It removes the app, but Figma leaves 6 kinds of files behind in your Library and elsewhere: starts the font helper at login; app data and the figmaagent font helper; cache. The steps above remove them.

What is Figma’s bundle ID on Mac?

com.figma.Desktop. Most of its leftover files and folders are named after it, which is how you (and TidyMac) can tell they belong to Figma.

Can I reinstall Figma later?

Yes. Download it again from Figma. Anything stored in your account online comes back when you sign in; local-only data you removed does not.
